Wie stimme ich meine Ukulele?

How do I tune my ukulele?

The strings of the ukulele are tuned in four tones: G | C | E | A

You can remember the 4 tones with the following saying: " Greek Clowns Eat Everything "

The following rule applies when voting:

Turning the peg away from the body increases the tension and the pitch becomes higher. Turning the peg toward the body decreases the tension and the pitch becomes lower.

How exactly do I tune the ukulele?

You should tune your ukulele every time before playing. I recommend plug-in tuners, which measure the frequency of your instrument directly. Plug the tuner onto the head of the ukulele and press and hold the power button. A small "C" or "Chromatic" should appear at the bottom of the tuner's display. If it doesn't, briefly press the power button until the small C lights up.

The strings are tuned to these notes, as described above: G | C | E | A . The musical alphabet, i.e. the C major scale, looks like this:

After the B, the scale starts again with C, only at a higher pitch. The boxed notes are the four notes G, C, E, and A , which the ukulele strings play when you strum them without fretting.

You start with the highest string from your perspective, the G string. You pluck the G string lightly so that it vibrates. The tuner now measures the vibration of the note and shows you which note is currently being played and whether it is sharp or flat. So, if the tuner shows an E or F for the G string, you need to tune the string higher. If it shows an A, you need to tune the string lower.

The more tension a string has, the higher it sounds. You can adjust the tension of the strings by turning the knobs until you reach the desired pitch.

Pay close attention to which peg you need to turn for each string. To do this, follow the string with your finger until you reach the corresponding peg.

If you turn the tuning peg away from your body, the tension and the pitch will become higher. If you turn the tuning peg toward your body, the tension will decrease and the pitch will become lower.

The tuner will tell you when the pitch is right. On most tuners, the display will glow green when the pitch is optimally adjusted.

Once you have tuned all the strings, go over all the strings one last time and retune them.

A new ukulele needs to be tuned frequently because the strings are still flexible. It's best to tune it before you play and before you put it down.

To turn off the tuner, press and hold the power button. Make sure you always turn the tuner off to prevent the batteries from draining too quickly.
